Are you a person that is in love with with books? Let me rephrase it : obsessed with books? That feels euphoric when smelling the pages of a newly bought book?

I know I am ! Gemini after all – gotta know it all:)

However, today my choice of books is completely different. I don’t rush into a library to devour all the content I can, but I choose the books by following my guidance. And it surprises me every single time – I find exactly what I need, exactly at the right moment. Simple library becomes Akashic library. And that’s where I always feel super connected and high on life.

Reading books is not about the information itself, but about how much of that theory you turn into wisdom. And how much you are digesting, integrating and experiencing in your life. Otherwise it’s pretty much just filling up the memory disc in your brain (and there is already enough of content). And also, if you consider it to be only the food for your brain then it’s quite likely to successfully grow your ego. You might start thinking that you know so much and dividing the world in white and black. Remember the story of Adam and Eve and that forbidden apple from the tree of knowledge? Voilà. It’s all in Bible! But you’re not into books for that, right?

So if you’re interested in diving deep into the spirit world or getting inspired to practice… without getting too confused in the world of theories and techniques, these are the top 10 books for cultivating your spiritual practice.

Remember to only take what resonates with your heart:)

1. Advanced Yoga Practices – Easy Lessons for Ecst atic Living by Yogani

It’s a collection of books written by Yogani – an author who simplified different spiritual methods demonstrated throughout history. He had no desire to be labelled as a guru and so he stayed anonymous living quiet life. I believe this already says a lot about the quality of the book.

I’ve read separate little books on each subject and maybe that’s what you would like too. If you do that, start with “Deep Meditation”, “Spinal Breathing Pranayama” and “Diet, Shatkarmas and Amaroli”. It’s all you need. Really. It’s easily digestible, clear and life changing. If you will take time to practice expect a shift in your life.

2. Autobiography of a Yogi by Paramahansa Yogananda

Yogananda is one of the most well known yogis and gurus in the west. And there is a good reason for this. His inspiring story and an incredible techniques of Kriya yoga changed the lives of millions of people.

This book is not necessarily a practice guide in Kriya yoga, but a book that helps you to get to know the Master, see if the teachings resonates with you and get the inspiration you need to start your own spiritual journey. For practical exercises you have to register at Self-Realization Fellowship where you study Yogananda’s lessons and preparation exercises for a year before getting to the Kriya yoga techniques.

3. Living in the Heart by Drunvalo Melchizede

Drunvalo is one of the most incredible heart-centered spiritual teachers that combines both worlds of spirit and science. His books and his workshops are beyond imagination – so deep, magical and life changing, even if you are a little sceptic!

This little book is a book of remembrance. It will lead you to an incredible spiritual journey. You will learn how to live from your heart, how access sacred space of your heart, how to consciously create (manifest) from it and why it is so important. That’s where the real magic starts to happen. I find that it is one of the most practical of his books as you can apply right away into your life. However, if you want to understand and learn more, you should definitely visit his website, watch his interviews and maybe even become his student.

4. Akashic Records by Ernesto Ortiz

This is an incredible sacred book written by Akashic Record expert and an open hearted shaman Ernesto Ortiz. If you watch his interviews you will understand the beauty behind his work and will want to dive deep into it right away.

This book is definitely going to take you to the next level no matter where you are. It is perfect for the curious ones who are always searching for answers to soul-stirring questions. Ernesto is teaching step by step process how to access Akashic Records library and find the answers to all the questions that you have. It is probably one of the greatest tools to develop your intuition. It will take some practice and trust before you reach the clarity, but keep engaged and you will experience new hights. It is truly an incredible spiritual tool that will make your journey so much more magical and easy-going.

5. Reiki Tummo by Irmansyah Effendi

Irmansyah Effendi is a spiritual master that received and transmitted incredible teachings on Reiki Tummo.

In my early spiritual journey days I attended different Reiki trainings, but this one was my first one and it brought me the biggest changes I could ever imagine. I love it because all the focus is on the Heart as opposed to many other systems. And you not only work with Heavens, but also with Earth and Kundalini energy. It feels more complete. If it resonates with you, then try it out! Remember that everyone finds what they need at the right moment and it was Reiki Tummo for me at that particular time. It was a liberation from Kundalini awakening triggered symptoms and helped me heal on many levels with evident change. Maybe it will be on your path too.

6. Daoist Nei Gong: The Philosophical Art of Change by Damo Mitchell

Damo Mitchell is a dedicated student and teacher of the martial, medical and spiritual arts of Asia. He is a creator of the Lotus Nei Gong School of Daoist Arts, and teaches all around the world.

This book is more than a must read. It is so very rare to find a westerner who can deliver this type of knowledge and in my opinion, he teaches Dao practices in the most authentic way. If that’s your path, you will need a lot of dedication, but it is… very worth it. It can bring incredible amount of changes into your life. Of course the practices, not just reading!

7. NEI GONG FOR WOMEN: THE ART OF THE LOTUS AND THE MOON BY RONI EDLUND AND DAMO MITCHELL

Roni Edlund is Damo Mitchel wife and a devoted dao practitioner and teacher as well.

This book is another Dao must read. I have to admit, I didn’t practice everything in this book yet, because it is a long process, but I can definitely recommend it to anyone. No matter which form of healing you are into, this book is going to serve you and help you understand it on a deeper level, especially from a woman’s perspective. Sometimes by practicing certain things without having enough understanding or knowledge we can have a reverse effect and damage our health. This will provide you with that missing piece that will make you grow and achieve results much faster and more in a more effective way.

8. OPENING THE ENERGY GATES OF YOUR BODY BY BRUCE FRANTZIS

Bruce Frantzis is a Taoist Lineage Master that dedicated over 40 years to the studies and exploration. He holds a lineage in qigong, bagua, tai chi, hsing-i and Taoist meditation, but his knowledge doesn’t limit here. He is quite an interesting character.

However I do prefer his books than actual trainings. This one is low-impact qigong exercise book. You will have very safe and clear guidance to a powerful practice which will liberate your body and teach you how to control the internal energy. This is one of the values I truly appreciate, because after experiencing some negative effects with other practices, I realized how important it is to find a teacher who is aware of it and goes beyond the superficial teachings of techniques.

9. Zhuan Falun by Li Hongzhi

Li Hongzhi is a founder of Falun Gong – Chinese spiritual practice which combines high level energy cultivation exercises with moral philosophy. You can learn how to do all the 5 exercises on Youtube. However, despite the fact that they are incredibly powerful, Falun Gong it is much more than only the technical part.

When you read the book itself you will see your understanding of the world changing and you will catch yourself having plenty of a-h-a moments, it is truly healing. If you prefer to see the master and listen to his lectures, you can visit Falun Dafa website and access them for free. I believe that through the videos you can get even more value. However, it is quite complex and filled with information, that is the reason why the book can be helpful if you want to slow down a little bit.

10. SECRETS OF SHAMANISM BY JOSE STEVENS & LENA S. STEVENS

Jose Stevens is an internationally known teacher, psychologist, consultant in organizational effectiveness, and executive coach.

In this book Jose and his wife Lena shows how to connect with your spiritual guides and how to achieve professional success, psychological enlightenment, and personal fulfillment. The book is filled with easy-to-follow exercises, lessons, and rituals that are a perfect introduction into shamanism and can be a strong catalyst for a life change.
